Money made available to union government as a result of demonetisation to be used for health , education, housing for poor and crop insurance schemes; Venkaiah Naidu

Union Minister for Urban Development, Poverty Alleviation, Housing and Information & Broadcasting Mr M Venkaiah Naidu said the Opposition parties had lost opportunity to express their position and provide valuable inputs on the issues and problems that may have arisen post-demonetisation issue,. Speaking to newsmen in Vijayawada here today, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said that the  Opposition parties didn’t know allow the parliament to function by raising frivolous issues rather than demonization. ” not allowing Parliament to function is contempt of democracy“ the Union Minister remarked.

Stating that the demonization step taken by the Prime Minister is a bold and brave step to unearth black money and curb corruption, the Union Minister said that everywhere people have welcomed the move by the Prime Minister. Mr Venkaiah Naidu said that the Government is taking all necessary steps to ease the currency crisis by transporting new currency notes in airplanes and army choppers. He said that demonization may pose difficulties to people in short-term but will have  long term benefits.

The Union Minister said some vested interests are trying to derail the process by spreading rumours on issues ranging from salt  He appealed to people to understand the situation and have patience till things come to normalcy .

    Stating that demonetisation is a bitter pill for long term ill Shri Naidu said that Centre want cashless transactions-“Cashless transactions mean less transactions with cash and more digital transactions”, he clarified.

Referring to the suddenness and secrecy of demonetisation , the Union Minister said certain amount of secrecy is necessary to stop the machinations of unscrupulous elements , " it is not a sudden step to unearth black money . The very first cabinet meeting of the present government has appointed SIT to unearth black money and has taken various steps like opening of Jandhan accounts, Aadhar cards, s signing various information exchange treaties on suspicious bank accounts with different countries which hitherto didn't exist. Demonetisation is one more step in a series of steps taken by government to unearth black money ".  

Allaying suspicions of employers in unorganised sector on Provident fund payments of their employees , Shri Naidu said that the PM has assured that whatever details the employers have declared after November 9th, 2016, only will be taken into consideration . The minister further said that Prime Minister wanted to spend the excess revenue that could accrue to Centre due to demonetisation will be spent on Health, Education and housing to poor and on crop insurance schemes.

The Union Minster Mr Venkaiah Naidu said the demonetisation is a step to unearth black money and curb corruption.  He said that some of the present restrictions on currency supply may soon be eased EoM
